SIMGEO is our innovative location intelligence solution enabling Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), and other organisations, to gather subscriber device location intelligence 24 x 7 without the need for special hardware, invasive integration with core networks, or reliance on GPS.
GPS receivers accelerate battery drain and consequently, some subscribers disable GPS to conserve power (or to prevent being located) which renders applications reliant on positioning information ineffective. In addition, the inclusion of GPS tracking in low-power IoT/M2M applications/devices remains an expensive component.
SIMGEO works across all networks (2G, 3G, 4G & 5G). In addition, SIMGEO is not dependent on device type. This is particularly important for those territories where smartphone penetration is still low. No Wi-Fi or internet access is required, and a major benefit is no integration with the core cellular network is necessary.
SIMGEO automatically analyses cellular mobile network radio data to produce a latitude, longitude position of a device. Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) apply SIMGEO to enhance Customer Quality of Experience measurement and to support Location Based Services (LBS) applications.
The Java Applet (client) is embedded in the SIM at the time of manufacture or delivered Over-the-Air (OTA). The client software uploads Network Measurement Reports (NMRs) to the SIMGEO server for transformation into a latitude-longitude.
The SIMGEO algorithm combines data from the MNO (or 3rd party) cell plan with handset generated Network Management Reports (NMR) to improve the conventional method of Received Signal Strength (RSS) triangulation and Cell ID (CID).
SIMGEO enables cell phones or other SIM-enabled devices to be located to an accuracy of between 10 -180 meters (dependent on network coverage).
SIMGEO-Fences are defined geographical areas; either by creating borders by drawing on a map or inserting a fixed location address. Subscribers or fleets (multiple subscribers) are assigned to a fence and actions configured to meet the customer’s needs. e.g. deliver an alert when a subscriber / device enters / leaves the fenced area.
Our SIMGEO-Location solution can be applied to a number of Customer Use-cases including:
